Hi there -
Here's a confession:
My writing was not very good. (haha maybe still).
I'm wasn't a natural writer - its not one of my strengths.
I took some advice from other writers on how to write. But it wasn't working.
I took a class from Dan Koe. He writes some pretty serious stuff. But I'm not him.
Writing was taking too long. It was frustrating. I was trying to be too conceptual.
I've been in this world for a while, and have helped move a lot of things forward. I've helped people scale. make money. Save Time. Overcome obstacles.
Rather that talk about theories, I decided to write more about stuff I've done, and founders I've helped grow and startups I've helped scale. It's much easier, and I believe more informative and more helpful.
People seem to enjoy content that comes from me the most.
It makes it easier to write, it's accurate, it's valuable - and it's nostalgic for me.
If you are struggling to write, write about yourself.
Tell us a story about something you did.
That's really how we get to know you.
Want to tell me the top 5 management failures? Yeah, that's nice. I've seen them. Which ones did you live through? How did it go? What did you learn?
You might get a lot of likes on your "what makes a great manager" infographic on LinkedIn. But likes are obligatory. Comments are traded like currency. Did it get someone to dig deeper and learn about you? That's the real value of content - to inspire.
Let's meet the real you and see what you are about.
- Matt
